This bootleg comes from the Conquest Tour recorded live at Palasport,Turin, Italy
23. May 1980 with John Sloman on vocals
A decent enough audience recording I have also included two bonus tracks Namely Easy Livin' and Suicidal Man that were also recorded in 1980 at an unknown venue(unknown to me anyway perhaps someone out there in blog-land knows). These two tracks are of a much superior quality, I believe a live album was recorded by Heep with Sloman so perhaps they have come from those recordings

ReplyDeleteThanks very much for fullfilling my request!!! Very kind of you indeed!!! I'm so pleased to at last have a concert with John Sloman. But then I also loved the Conquest album.
ReplyDeleteHappy to oblige
ReplyDeleteI must admit that Conquest has a special place in my heart, and while many people didn't enjoy the album, personally I rate it higher than quite a few others in the Heep back catalog, and it has made regular visits to my turntable over the last few months. The fact that it is not a "typical Heep" album shouldn't put people off listening to it as most people i know who have given the album a chance and listened to it with an open mind have ended up loving it
Thank you Colin for this post... I remember that, some time ago, i made a request to you for some live Heep with John Sloman... And now i can hear this bootleg in my Italy... Thank you so much.
ReplyDeletePS: i'm also a member of the club of Conquest lovers, and i think that is different from others Heep works, but in a good way!!!

Conquest is not among my favorite Heep albums, but it contains beautiful moments, so thanks for this concert.
ReplyDeleteOn qualitybootz blog, a concert in Budapest, 1982 (FLAC), it might interest some people.
Thanks Ray
ReplyDeleteI've already posted that album albeit in the mp3 format. Currently downloading the flac file to see if it is indeed better quality
Thanks a lot mate - ok quality recording, and finally I can listen to UH live with John Sloman. A full concert or album in the quality of the bonus tracks would be great. Maybe it is out there somewhere. I like Conquest, and I also like John's vocals.
ReplyDeleteanyway, thanks again and keep up the great work!
cheers, Mick
